FIP Signs Global Declaration on Diabetic Foot Survival and Limb Preservation
The International Federation of Podiatrists (FIP) has signed the Global Declaration on Diabetic Foot Survival and Limb Preservation at DFSICON, the national conference of the Diabetic Foot Society of India.
Representing FIP, President Pauline Wilson, PhD, and President-elect Lee C. Rogers, DPM, attended the conference, with Dr. Wilson signing on behalf of the federation.
The declaration calls for coordinated international action to prevent diabetic foot complications, preserve limbs, and improve survival. It emphasizes prevention, early recognition, access to multidisciplinary care, rehabilitation, and quality of life.
It also proposes the creation of a Global Alliance for Diabetic Foot Survival and Limb Preservation to advance research, policy, education, and coordinated action worldwide.

KEEPING THE WORLD ON ITS FEET
The FIP began in 1947 as the Federation Internationale des Podologues. A group of French-speaking national organisations in Belgium, France, and Switzerland were responsible for its creation. Madam Decosterd of a Swiss organisation was the first President, and the first Congress was held in Zurich in 1953.
